About

Having grown up in the quiet seaside town of Skegness, Lincolnshire, I finally escaped for university in 2001 to study Geology in Edinburgh. Over the course of the next eight years, I completed both undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses, as well as a very brief period of employment in geotechnical engineering, before deciding to take a leap of faith and try to break into the creative industries.
I've been passionate about art and illustration since a very young age so when the opportunity arose to join an exciting indie games company as a junior 2D artist in 2009, I jumped at the chance. I cut my teeth in this competitive but rewarding field for five years before leaving as a senior 2D/UI artist and setting up my own business.
I now focus on creating highly polished and intuitive UI for games, as well as donning Art Director and Concept Artist hats when required by clients. All of my current work is created from my professional home studio here in Scotland.
I also create artwork for illustrated picture books, as well as developing my own writing for children.
My debut title, The Smellyphant, was published in May 2015, and is available through a number of online outlets, and my second book, "Do Donkeys Dream Of Ice Cream?" was released at the end of 2015.
Please take a look at the Gallery for examples of my work and the Books page for details about my published and upcoming works.
In addition to children's illustration, I also do the occasional piece of commissioned work for private clients and specialise in photorealistic pencil portraiture. Examples of these pieces can also be found in the Gallery.
I'm also developing my digital paintings, focusing on a variety of wildlife subjects. Canvas prints of these are available.
